AT&T Galaxy S4 - All sync is disabled and my contacts still sync

I have an AT&T Galaxy S4 SGH-I337 Running Android 4.2.2. I disabled sync from the notification panel and disabled sync from Settings: Accounts: Google. I loaded almost 600 contacts from a previous phone via Mobile Wondershare. After a few days all my contacts disappeared, and only contacts from my GMail remained. Under contacts using the menu option and Contacts to Display I selected Display All Contacts. Only 20 or so contacts that are in my GMail account show up. I could not find my 600 contacts anywhere. I loaded them again from my computer and again they all disappeared the next day. And again.
