I know without a shadow of a doubt i want the 6p in graphite !
What I am on the fence is the storage size...
I currently own the Nexus 6 and love it by the way but out of the 32gb I have only used 18 gb in 10 months. 7 GB google music I have download to phone to save on data an 14 GB including the music for apps total.Pictures, documents all in the cloud..also plan to buy a Chromebook and have a sd card for it . I plan to use the 6p as my daily driver until at least November/December 2017 then keep it as a backup when I get Nexus 2017. So should I spend the extra $50 get the 64 or save it for something else? I don't see using 64 GB let alone over 32gb.

You did sort of answer your question but I'll say you should go for the 64GB version.

I'm like you that I have used about 16GB of my phone's storage to date. I store some Google Music and Podcasts. I do travel periodically so I like some GB free for pictures and video. I could probably manage with a 32GB phone right now. However, I went with the 64GB model.

Doubling the memory to 64GB for only $50 is a great value. You are talking about spending 2 years with this phone. Your past use is probably a good indicator of your future needs but there's also the fact that we don't know what the future will bring in terms of technology and usage patterns. The phone is not expandable.

In my case, I can see situations where I might benefit from the extra memory. I went to China earlier this year and used my phone for most of the pictures. I had an SD card in my phone which considerably increased the storage. I could probably work with 32GB, offload photos to the cloud, etc. but having the extra memory was just handy. I can't say whether or not I'll be on another major trip in the next 2 years (probably will). The fact is you can't add memory once you've bought the phone.

If you can afford the extra $50, I suggest the 64GB. If it's a little tight to spend the extra money, you'll probably be fine with 32GB.

For me I got the 32gb. But I keep everything in the cloud. Stream my music and store my photos online. I also don't keep my devices longer than a few months before switching.

But for you since you said you will keep it for two years I would get the 64gb. For $50 more you get piece of mind since your keeping it long term.

Get the 64 GB, it's the right balance even if don't use that much. You never know when you need additional storage and then you have no option. At least with 64GB it's a good middle ground for $50 more.

I got 64. My previous phone was a original Moto X 32 gig. Since I'm on job sites in remote areas often, the cell signal is sketchy sometimes even with Verizon. So I keep tons of music and podcasts on my phone. And with games and apps getting larger in size, especially with Google cardboard, I was constantly running up against a full memory with 32 gigs. 64 is working out perfect for me as I still have about 20 gigs free with everything I need on it.

128 GB. There's no other size.

Unnecessary IMO, especially if you want to save a few bucks.

Where does it end, do you really need that much content on-the-go? 64GB is more than enough.

I have the 128GB iPhone 6S, I only have 20GB left but rarely go through all of it.

Always get as much storage as you can afford - or at least can contemplate using.

I look at the $50 as an insurance policy against whatever might come along later. Advances in technology, a newfound appreciation for downloaded content, etc.

agreed. I don't tell people how to spend their money or how to use their phone, but 128GB is overkill IMO. Only reason I think that is cause I never understood why it's necessary to store your entire music collection and a bunch of video. Just my opinion and to each their own, but I just really don't get it.

OP, I was in the same situation as you in that I knew I wouldn't surpass 32GB but debated the 64GB. I ultimately went with 64GB because $50 for the piece of mind was worth it to me. I can't predict how long I'll have it or if my habits will change in the next 2-3 years, plus it'll be more valuable if I decide to trade it in one day.

As a practical matter 32G is fine, I never got close to filling my Nexus5 or my Galaxy Nexus before that, both of which had 32G. That said I got the 64G 6P because it was only $50 more and that's a trivial amount of money to me and 64G doesn't seem like a ridiculous amount of memory, on the other hand 128G did seem like conspicuous consumption because there is no way any one could possible use that amount of memory. You would have to watch porn 24/7 for two straight weeks to go through 100G of SSD, and even if you did have the stamina to do that you would have to be on a desert island to need it stored on your phone, if you are on land you could just stream XHamster using WiFI.

That's my dilemma.. $50 is is well $50 .. I am getting a Chromebook with storage for it. I am not planning to sell 6p even if I did a phone that will be 4 yrs old when I no longer use it won't Matter if its 32gb or 64gb value will be gone .

I don't see a dilemma. If $50 is meaningful to you then get the 32G, we all agree that 32G is more than enough especially in the era of streaming media and cloud storage. I do recommend that you spend the $89 on the extended warranty/insurance. That's very cheap as compared to carrier coverage plans. BTW the 6P is $50 off on the Google Store right now so pull the trigger soon.

The 128GB question is a matter of context. Some folks get a real benefit from the storage option. It gives the user flexibility to keep photos, music, video, maps, documents etc. offline and available for use (In my case I can easily be off the network for 16-18hrs at a time and in other cases limited to 2G speeds). Its a balance between what need (or what you think you need) and price (and a little bit on the convenience).

You are just so wrong with your assumptions it's really not even funny.

I totally agree! In my old job, I used to travel internationally for business. Sometimes with connecting flights I would be traveling to get where I'm going for 30 hours or so. Then when I got there I would be in a hotel with really crappy Wi-Fi in some industrial area in India, China or Malaysia. Having lots of music and several movies and podcasts loaded on my phone to last me a week or two was essential for my sanity! In addition, when I was in factories over there it was not practical to bring my laptop many times, so having the procedural documents, spreadsheets and presentations loaded on my phone was essential for me too. All those things take up lots of storage. There are plenty of people that need 128 gigs on a phone with no removable storage. Just because someone has never needed it or is in a situation or they don't need it doesn't mean that someone else doesn't need it. As I noted in my post above, many times I'm on job sites in remote areas with sketchy cell signals. So I keep a lot of music, podcasts, games and videos on my phone to keep me entertained on my lunch breaks and when I'm sitting around waiting for an inspector to show up.

I have close to 100GB used up. I just cleaned out some space too.
1-I have 15 GB of music alone. I travel a lot and sometimes I'm in places are very spotty and barely 1 bar of 3g so I listen to music.

2-I have a ton of movies on my phone. Again for the same reason. I have a lot of stand up comedy on my phone. And I have movies for my flights.

3-Documents are easily accessible to I don't need my laptop. Of course not complex documents but important but simple.

4-Photos alone are 5GB on my phone. Personal and work photos.

Everyone has different space needs.
