Android s8+, v9 - not all Exchange folders are syncing to Android Mail app

[Android Central Question]

On my Android s8+ (v9), i am using the mail app to synchronize email with an Exchange server. It is syncing emails received in the 'inbox' folder just fine. Yet there is an 'email folders to sync' setting which does not show other exchange mailbox folders that i need to sync emails on my phone with. On my outlook/exchange email i have a folder at same level as 'inbox' (not a sub-folder) which has emails moved to it based on applied rules. Yet this folder does not show as an option to select in the 'email folders to sync' setting, hence no emails are arriving on my phone for it.

Anyone have this problem and a workaround to resolve this?

Assuming you mean a Samsung S8+ running Android 9.x

Whose email server are you trying to connect to?
Which email app?
Which email protocol are you using (POP3, IMAP, Exchange)?

If the protocol in the account settings is set to POP3, you will get only the "inbox" on the server.
