Do the Nokia phones retain the text to speech function over bluetooth like the windows phones do? If you had a windows phone you will understand. I love how i was told the Note 8 would do this. Nope!

I bought a Note 8 and while it is neat, and a huge step up from my Nokia Icon (930) and my Nokia 928 it just does not perform as wellin some areas that i need for business.
The phone, contacts, voicemail app were better “baked in” on the windows phones.
Bluetooth, no one can hear me or it is seriously choppy.
Texting - how i miss my windows phone.

I thought about getting a HP Elite X3 but it doesnt have all the bands for Verizon.

If the New Nokias retained the old ability or not i would love to know.

TIA

I was a long-time Nokia Lumia fan. Hell I still have a Lumia 920 and a Lumia 830 lying around. I know the functionality you're referring too and unfortunately, it's an OS thing so the Nokia 8 does not do the same things via bluetooth.

I have a Note8, but it occasionally freezes on me which tempted me to look at and eventually buy a Nokia 8. I can tell you that bluetooth works flawlessly, including bluetooth 5.0 features which let you connect to multiple speakers at once.

And on speakerphone, people tell me they can't even tell that I'm on speakerphone and not using the earpiece.

But back to your question... forgive me if you've already tried this but can't you use Ok Google to do something similar? Check this video for an idea: https://youtu.be/bkhwS5Z3VUM

There are some apps that do something similar as well https://drfone.wondershare.com/message/apps-read-text-message.html

Plus this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=au.com.it2me.readtext2me&hl=en

Pretty sure Bixby has some kind of functionality for this as well.

Hope that helps.

I will ask this here too...Does the Nokia 8 have any color tuner or display adjustments like moving to FHD/1080p or Night mode? I am big on displays and get picky about what I am looking at, and would like to know more about how much control Nokia allows in the UI over the display. Thanks folks.

As Jellyman says it has a Night Mode and settings for adjusting display and text elements but that's all, being Android though there are likely to be third party apps to make adjustments anyway.

Interesting. Let me know if you know of an app that can adjust the color, saturation and or temperature of the display. I'd be interested to see how it performs and if it's stable.

Have you tried Twilight? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.urbandroid.lux
I used this on my Motorola phones but my current LG V20 has a night mode built-in.
The night mode on the Nokia 8 works fine and is built in already. I am interested in display calibration or color saturation adjustments if possible.
... I did mention color temperature I suppose but was meaning in the other spectrum (cold) which can tend to be a color adjustment too of either blue/purple or green
