90% of the time Wifi is on since I'm at home.
I turn Wifi off and Data on when I'm outside.

Yes I think 3G data is a big drainer :)

No, I'm talking about the WiFi scanning thing that was introduced in 4.3. Do you have that enabled?

No. It's disabled by default? I haven't visit this setting since I updated to 4.3.

EDIT: Google Location Services are off.

And this is why you are having no problems...

Okay, that's good to know. If I have to use Google Maps at some point, I'll remember to shut the service off. Since I'm not exactly a Nexus expert, I hope there's nothing I'm missing out on by having these service off. I'm not noticing any lack of functionality.

But wait...was it just the fact that I turned Google Services off that improved my battery life? In other words, these services were on before the update, and that's what limiting battery life?

My $0.02

On a vzw gnex, updated to 4.3, saw no increase in battery life. Standby and SOT both sucked. I tried restarting, reflashing the ROM after clearing data and batt stats ( I was desperate) and none of that worked.

Then I cut of the WiFi always on, and optimize batt on wifi settings that were introduced in 4.3. Standby time increased dramatically. Standby drains less than 2%/hr now, SOT still sucks.

So if I were any of you guys, I'd turn off those location options. All it does is provide your location to apps (esp Google ones) while the phone is in standby. Its supposed to save battery over using GPS for the location, and it might, but its not nessary and turning it off will save you battery in standby.

That said....YMMV

So it was definitely Google maps location reporting that was destroying my phone with wake locks.

The photos are my screenshots with GPS, WiFi, and location history on all day with Google Now enabled.

I dunno about factory reset because I'm pretty happy with what I have. I don't turn off anything because I don't like toggling anything. I also make quite a number of phone calls too so that contributes to a ton of battery drain.

People have such wild sot - 4, 5 hours etc but I don't think their phones get as much use real world usage.

I got the update couple of days back and since then battery life is significantly reduced. Earlier at night, battery percentage used to get decreased by 4-5% max but now it reduces more than 25% overnight. And during the day as well, without using much, it's down 30% in 6 hours.

I have been having the same issue (see my post on page one). I finally dealt with it last night after flashing multiple ROMs and kernels. I went back to OTA 4.3/rooted/twrp and flashed from the updated .84 modem back to the previous .48 modem. Went back to only losing ~4% overnight. The problem appears to be the qualcomm modem driver. Additionally, I am mostly seeing this problem from people outside the US. Sanjay, I can make a guess from your profile pic, but could you confirm what country you are in?

I am in France.

Standby time seems to really have improved. I made a 25 minute call last night and some light internet. After 17hrs 7 minutes, battery is at 74%. I think it only went down 2% over night. Mine is still stock.

looking at the image you posted location reporting seems to be the least used.
Are you thinking Google Services = Location reporting???
Google service is a collection of services and one of them is location reporting

My wakelock detector shows that Nlpcollectorwakelock was the biggest hog, keeping my phone from depression sleeping. Through trial and error turning location reporting off in maps seems to have controlled this wakelock. See my images from last time.

Nlpcollectorwakelock is a wakelock used by Google services and not just by Maps, though the latter is the guilty one for overuse.

You are one of those lucky ones. My nexus 4 battery on 4.3 is worse than 4.2.2
