i had one of those on my previows phone [GS2]
and it made my GS2 look like an elephant.

for my new GS3 i ordered an extra OEM battery and a dedicated charger insted, check it out

2100mAh OEM Battery + Charger For Samsung Galaxy S3 III AT&T i747 Verizon i535 | eBay

I do the same. I had an extended battery for my thunderbolt and an extra standard one. Found I would never use the extended one because I hated the extra bulk. For the s3 I bought an extra oem battery and charger but the battery life is so good I don't find myself carrying around the extra one anyways.

I wish there was a picture showing how much thickness it adds but you're probably right. It's just very tempting for only $8. Not sure I want to risk it frying my phone though.

Just an update, Mugen-Power has a 2300mAh battery that fits in the phone without having to get a larger back cover. It's only a 10% bump up from the 2100mAh and I am not sure if it has NFC. If you want more power than 2300mAh it looks like you will have to get a bigger back cover.

EDIT: The Mugen 2300mAh has NFC it can be found here: [HLI-I9300SL] Buy Mugen Power 2300mAh Extended Battery for Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300, LTE i9305/AT&T Galaxy S3 I747/Sprint Galaxy S3 L710/T-Mobile Galaxy S3 T999/Verizon Galaxy S3 I535/US Cellular Galaxy S3 R530/Sprint Galaxy Victory 4G LTE/Galaxy S3 I

will this work with cricket wireless version?

Just to set the background the Samy GS3 comes with a 2100 mAh battery.

I have been reading that it is possible to put a 2600 mAh battery in the GS3. Has anyone tried this? Will it break my phone or light it on fire?

I have an AT&T GS3 if that makes any difference.
I saw Phil do a positive review on this a while back. It's a case that doubles your battery but it doesn't add as much girth to the phone. Looks pretty cool and has a recharge button you only push when you need it.
