Car audio won't resume after that unless I disconnect/ reconnect device

Bluetooth -Lexus RX 350. I want to interrupt audio and receive notifications and text messages (and respond) in my car while listening to music or audiobook on phone. But when I am listening and get,/listen to a text, the audio won't resume afterwards unless I disconnect and then reconnect my device on the car control panel and push play on my phone manually. I saw a thread similar to this from February 2017 and Android responded that they were trying to fix the complex problem. So in September 2018 it is still not fixed. Please help me

Most music players will stop playing when you bring up another app. Then you have to bring up the music app and hit play again. That's not something to "fix", it's the way most music players are written. You'll have to find one that keeps playing even with another app over it.
