(Pixel 6 Pro with Shokz OpenComm headset, which has a boom mic.)
I want to capture audio using my headset when recording videos or talking to other apps such as ChatGPT or transcription apps.
Is this possible?
The headset mic works fine when I use my phone or WhatsApp. However if recording a voice memo with WhatsApp, it switches to the phone's built-in mic.
I've tried:
* Checking permissions for the apps. The headset doesn't seem to require a different permission than the built-in mic.
* Changing the "audio device type" in Bluetooth settings for the headset, from unknown to headphones. Also tried Car Kit and other. Didn't help.
* Disconnecting and reconnecting the headset then trying again (with device type = headphones).
Related question: I see videos where people are speaking into a lapel mic. Would a lapel mic have the same issue or does the phone automatically switch in that case?
