According to a Sprint admin on that forum an update will be released tomorrow (9/30) to address this problem. Says it will be rolled out over a 4 day period.

Posted this on a separate thread here on the forums, but I'll also post here. It seems that Sprint may have fixed something on the network side of things already. I've been getting sub 150kbps uploads on my epic for a couple of weeks now. Today I used both the speedtest.net and the FCC app and was getting between 500-800kbps uploads. Nice to see. Still wish they said what the problem turned out to be.

My download ranged from 800k- to 1.2 and my upload is consistent at 500kbps
