Maybe I'm wrong but I use Swiftkey and I believe the emoticons come with the keyboard? Would the phone only provide the emoticons when using the native keyboard?
But double-tap to turn *off* my phone’s screen is **glorious**.
I understand the addiction, and I’m kinda wishing that Nova allowed me to shut off the screen with a double-tap on my Moto X. I used the power button on the G4 to screenshot far more than I did to actually wake/sleep the phone, and I find myself double-tapping the screen, only to bring up my music instead of shutting off the screen.
Yes, I'm gonna complain about emoji. I use them. A lot. ???????????? And they look so terrible after using Google emoji for years.

You can get this feature on any phone with nova, install the app 'screen off and lock' and with nova gestures use this app for the double tap gesture.

2) Back Buttons - I love them, took me about 10 seconds to fall in love with, very natural (for me!) Side buttons always got in my way, never did like them but never thought about having them elsewhere until LG came up with them.
3) Size - jury is still out, this is by far the biggest phone I've ever had. So far so good but I'm thinking it gets on my nerves down the road. Pocketability is still a big factor for me, maybe #1 but I figured I'd give the big phone a try-out since so many like them.
4) Speaker - no excuse to have a back firing speaker these days, it's so yesterday.
5) Emoji - don't care, has no bearing on my like/dislike of a product.
But...I have no regrets, I like the phone and any criticisms so far aren't enough to sour me on the product. Any product can be picked apart, overall it's a good purchase...so far. I'm basically one week into this thing.
The buttons thing has been a love it or hate it for pretty much everyone I've come across. I don't hate it completely, but I still swing a bit towards side buttons. Size is still a subjective and changing opinion for me. I thought I'd hate the size of the Moto X 2014 when I was upgraded to it, but it's grown on me.
The emoji is a non-issue for a lot of people. It is an issue for me, though.
The good news, there are a lot of really good phones out there for us to choose from (including the G4).
The bad news, the phones are so good now that we can complain about "emoji"...LOL. We are a troubled and fickle society.
I really liked your review, thanks for sharing.
Kinda, some keyboards have their own included emoji, but sadly, on most keyboards, it'll be covered up by what came on the phone. I think the blobs have character, too, and the non-people emojis look worlds better.
