Hello all,

I have a question about switching HTC Thunderbolt hardware. Just recently my power button stopped working, meaning that I am unable to awaken it, unless I plug it in to a power source or someone calls/text's me. Verizon is sending me a replacement unit. So, my question is... since I'm currently operating off of the original software Android version 2.2.1, and I am still getting a free hotspot, does/will this change once I swap units? I'm asking because I'm not sure if that is something that's stored on your SIM card or not.

I might be wrong, but I seem to remember that there was an OTA that killed the free hot spot. So, if your replacement phone has already been updated, you're probably out of luck. Of course, you could always root to get it back. Trter has a great Tbolt All-in-one tool that makes it easy.
