Is the 2gb Zenfone 2 supposed not strong enough for 4k video playback?

Or is my device messed up? When I try to play 4k videos, the video freezes every few seconds, and the video player ui flashes/flickers.

It can't even play a 1080p 50fps video in a 180 degree vr video player, it looks like 30fps.

Was my expectation too high or is something wrong with it?
