Is there a way to read the texts on my cell with my laptop?

My Thunderbolt touchscreen is malfunctioning and can't be unlocked. Verizon will replace the phone, but my texts will be lost. They are not stored on the memory card. When I plug the cell into my laptop, it is recognized as a hard drive. Is there a way to access my texts with my computer to read (and ideally save) them?

Looks like a cool thing, but how do I download and install it on my cell when the screen is locked? Is there a way to install an app from my laptop to the phone via the USB?

Google voice works great for me. It gives you a different number, but the phone app and the browser are always synced.

No way to do that, that I know of with the screen locked.
