Hello there, i have a Xiaomi mi9T Pro, completely up to date, not rooted or unlocked. I'm posting this because non of the posts i've looked at helped me fix my problem.
I was transferring my photos and videos in my pc, then after finishing i found 70 video files remaining in my phone gallery that say "file format is not supported or files are corrupted", they're still mp4, size unchanged, file names are still the same and the gallery even shows the length of the videos but fails to open them, i can't send them as either videos in social apps or even as files, they don't appear in the file explorer nor on my pc when i open the folder directory, photo and video recovery apps in play store didn't help didn't help. i found many videos showing that if i Clear all data in the media Data and the cache of the gallery app then restarting, the issue would be fixed but it didn't change anything. i don't have an SD card inserted either. i appreciate any help possible to recover the files cause these are videos of precious memories.

Just to clarify -- you copied or moved these videos from the PC to the phone via USB, and now those videos show up as not supported or corrupted?

How were these videos recorded -- using your phone, or using some other camera?

How did you transfer them? If via USB, did you transfer a huge number of files all at once? Doing so can sometimes result in data errors. It's generally a good idea to transfer files in smaller batches.

I moved the stuff from my phone to pc (emptying my media storage like usual), but these files refused to move.
Most of those videos were recorded on my phone judging by the file names though I'm sure I've received some of them from friends through social apps

Did you already try moving any of those video files individually, using Windows File Explorer? (Also, don't use the Import All Photo/Videos command -- that's a totally indiscriminant function and will bring over all of the useless thumbnails and cached images from apps as well.)

Windows file explorer doesn't detect the files even when i try to view hidden files, even the phone file manager doesn't detect the files as if they don't exist.
Also yeah i use the normal file transferring method not the media importing tool

Hmm. It sounds like the file transfer may have glitched. Did you use the Move command or Copy command? Copy is always recommended, because that should leave the source files intact (while Move will automatically delete the source files, even if there's a problem with the file operation).

Yep copied, also if that was the problem at least I'll have files in my pc with the same name, corrupted or not, but that's not the case. The explorer didn't even find them in the first place.
I'm pretty sure the issue isn't related to file transferring and only reason that i didn't notice it is because i don't check my gallery often and they were buried below newer pictures and videos.

Do you recall if these are videos you deleted at some point, or are they definitely videos you wanted to keep?

Ok, and they were taken by the camera on your Mi 9T Pro, or using a previous phone? If the latter, was it an Android phone or possibly some kind of feature phone or flip phone?

Actually now that you mention i remember, they were taken on my older phone which was a Poco F1. But they're both compatible and the file transfer in between them was seamless, everything was moved folder to folder by the native app.

That might be the problem. Do you recall checking those videos after the initial transfer from the Poco F1? If not, it's possible something happened with that transfer process.

The files might be corrupted and irretrievable, assuming you no longer have the Poco F1. If you're unable to access them on either the phone nor the PC while connected via USB, I'm not sure what else you can do. You could consider bringing the phone to a data recovery specialist, but that might cost a lot.
