My Samsung email app stopped syncing my gmail and after a reinstall it loops to a google site

My Samsung email app stopped syncing my gmail and everything else. So tried couple of things to no avail. Then I deleted the app entirely and reinstalled. I go to Andriod Settings, cloud, new accounts, Samsung mail, enter my gmail address, start to enter my password and then before I am finished entering it I am redirected to an endless loop in a google sign in page but never able to complete the registering process for Samsung mail app. I even turned cookies off no deleted my browser history

Please help.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you getting an error message, or does it just keep asking you to sign in as if you didn't try just beforehand? Do you have 2-step authentication turned on for your Google account?

Are you able to access your Gmail in the Gmail app, rather than the stock Email app?
