great sky!!! what were your settings?

Shot in auto and the first pic was taken with the ultra wide angle lens. I'm amazed with this camera and how it produces consistently good results in most situations in auto mode. No need to tinker with the settings when trying to get a quick pic.

Why is night mode on the Note 10 Plus so noisy?

The second photo is from my OnePlus 7 Pro using Nightscape.

I feel like night mode was just thrown together as a reaction to Pixel and Huawei. Hopefully they improve it but I kinda feel we wont see it until the s11 with their new camera sensor.

I was wondering that myself. It seems like Samsung wanted to rush out the N10 family and didn't fine-tune their processing software. Not saying this happened. Just what it seems like to me.

Here are my night shot results. I'm not that impressed. It's difficult to get sharp images. All of these were handheld. I'm sure I would have gotten better results using a tripod.

Holding the phone steady was not easy. It didn't get any easier standing on rocks.

The noise comes from a high ISO setting. Increasing the ISO amplifies the signal, which introduces noise. This also reduces effective sharpness and causes it to look soft. Noise reduction further reduces overall sharpness.

So the night shot is just like a regular shot that ramps up the ISO tgat could be done in Pro mode. I figured Samsung would've designed the night shot with better algorithms. Disappointing.

There is some noise reduction going on too. However, if you are too heavy handed, images come out looking, "plasticy."

I agree, Samsung's night shot is OK at best. I didn't buy it for it's night shot abilities (or lack there of), so it's not a huge issue for me. If I want to get good night shots, I'll break out my Canon EOS 6D and tripod.

Speaking of which. I'll take some more shots with a tripod and see how they come out. That is the nice thing about the new S Pen. I can use it as a remote.
