Android Central Question

Samsung Tab S7 Case - Autolock "locks" screen even when the feature is turned off (see main text)

I am facing a rather specialised problem, so please bear with me while I try to tell all the relevant parts:

I own a Samsung Galaxy Tab S7. I have bought a book-cover for it that features this magnetic thing that is supposed to turn the screen off when the cover is closed.

The problem is that if I flip the cover all the way around so that it is behind the main screen, the sensor still reacts and the screen turns off. Since There is no convenient way to hold the tablet and use it without flipping the cover all the way back, this of course annoys me.

To combat this, I have disabled that feature in the settings (Settings -> Advanced -> accessories). However, while now the screen stays active when the cover is flipped all the way back, it does not accept any Touchscreen input, making it "locked" but displaying the last-active app (and clearly still active, e.g. videos are still playing).

So a sort if two-part question

-Does anyone else have the problem that the automatic lock/unlock from the case is triggering with a flipped-back cover, or is the problem that the magnet if this relatively cheap case is too strong or something like that?

-Did anyone else ever encounter this issue with the screen being "locked" but still active while it senses the auto-lock "device"?

And as a culmination: Does anyone have an idea what to do so that I can use this cover, or is it just a faulty product?

I have the Tab S7 and the Samsung book cover case (without keyboard). I've had the cover on it since day 1 and have not had this problem. You may have a defective case. Is this the Samsung case (which is NOT 'cheap' in either build or cost, IMO), or is this a 3rd-party product that is similar to the Samsung case?

Welcome to Android Central! This kind of issue is not that unusual for 3rd party cases -- they probably used a magnet that's too strong, which can still be sensed by the smartcover sensor in the tablet's bezel when the cover is flipped back. It may just be better to get a new case that is proven to work correctly. If you just recently bought this case, see if you can ask for a refund, citing the problem.
