why is there a sound recorder app preinstalled on my n1

that i have to install anycut and make a custom shortcut to access?

i have the same thing, only with the Droid 3. i saw the app under settings/applications/manage applications/all tab. if you scroll to the S's its there. Yet not there in app drawer. Even if i download "Any Cut" from the market (which advice i aquired from the original post) it cannot be utilized. whats up with the pre-installed dud? -please help-
