T-Mobile G2 black screen after repair

Here's the jist of it. I dropped my g2, broke the digitizer. Replaced digitizer and LCD assembly. Worked once. Now digitizer works but LCD only shows light, no picture. I put the old one back in and the LCD doesn't work on that one anymore too. Any ideas/tips would be greatly appreciated.
Oh I tried a soft reset and unplugged the battery.

Might be a lose ribbon cable, not fully seated, or defective replacement.
