Updating apps say "downloading" but never do. Is it root's fault?

I am able to update most of my apps on my Incredible 2 as they come up for update. But certain ones have just been cycling and cycling for a long time. They were doing this on my previous Inc2 and are doing it on my new one. All but 1 are built-in apps.

Skype Mobile on Verizon
Google Maps
Google Books
Voice Search
Adobe Reader
Amazon MP3

I wonder if this has anything to do with me being rooted (I'm on 2.3.3 but not yet rommed) or having these apps on my phone via a restored backup. I backed up my apps on my previous phone (which was also rooted but not yet rommed) with Titanium Backup. On this new phone I restored the apps through Titanium Backup. Everything else seems to be fine, but when I go to My Apps in Market, these five have active stripey download bars that never show any progress. They show a status of "starting download" but it never happens. I can still use the existing versions of each on my phone, but these updates just won't go through. Meanwhile I'm able to update the other apps. What's going on? Already tried clearing cache on Market but no dice.
