Videos and photos in wrong order in gallery when trying to post in instagram??

Don't redovthe smart switch. I did it 3 times and still had the same problem. Just randomised in a differnt order. I noticed when i go un to to gallery and click recent its randomised there too.

What should I use to transfer all the photos and keep the order on third party apps? I have 25k photos and don't have any ideia on how to transfer It all and keep the order.

I smart switched over to S20 Ultra from OnePlus everything was fine until I went to post on Instagram and all my gallery is jumbled up! Videso are just sorted randomly. Can anyone help?

Hi fellow android user here I know this is an old post but I'm having these same issues but I did not do any data transfer of the sort and a good 70-80 of my photos and videos from months ago have been moved to the top of my gallery section in Instagram. my app is up to date and I logged out and logged back in and I'm still having the same issue. any help is appreciated thanks

Wow. Disappointed to see thus never got resolved. I've switched from S10 to S22 and have the same issue. Gallery is sorted by date, except for some REALLY old photos off my S6 edge, which I'm cool with.
But I use an app called iAuditor for work and it's the same. It changes daily. Most days the most recent photos are at the top, usually the last day or 2, every now and then even today's photos are gone and scattered throughout my other 5000 images. It's the same when I post to Facebook of try and text an image.
I went unto messages and Facebook to try and see it was a file name thing and they were in order! iAuditor is still all over the place though and I use it for work. Today was the last straw.

Sorry to bump an old thread but figured I'd post my workaround for anyone else that is having this problem. This workaround doesn't work for Fb as far as I can tell, sorry for anyone hoping for that. I think we're all essentially having the same problem: transferring photos changes the "created" date to the date of the transfer and they don't necessarily transfer in the order the pictures were taken. It seems IG uses the created date to sort the gallery. Luckily, our phones name the photos by date/time you actually took them. So, in IG, make a new post, and then where it gives you the option to select from Gallery, click that and choose Other... This gives you the option to choose the folder that your pictures are in. Then hit the 3 dots, and select Sort. Choose File name (Z to A) and your pictures will show up in the order you're used to seeing them in. It's not perfect but it works.

In fact, there's arguably an easier way to do this straight from your phone's gallery app, and it will work for both Fb and IG. This works for Samsung phones, probably similar steps for other brands. If your phone's gallery app is still out of order, you can go into My Files and find the folder your photos are stored in. Default sort is by Date (date created, different from date taken if you have moved photos from different device). Sort by Name instead and then go back to your gallery. You may have to close the gallery and reopen to refresh it, but it should now display in original chronological order. From there, select the photo/s you want to post, then Share to IG or Fb. If the app you want doesn't show up automatically, click More and the method you want should be in there. It seems you can only upload one photo at a time for IG this way, but multiple at time for Fb.

Hi Android users! I know this is an old post but I've found a very effective workaround (Instagram from my knowing), I've had the problem since I transferred my data from my old realme phone to a new Android phone. As shown in the picture below, go to "Device Permission" then change your "Photos and Videos" permission to only select pictures of your choosing, this allows you to choose your photos or videos from a separate gallery that sorts the photos and videos by capture date and not creation date. This will solve your problem of photos older than your transfer date sorted randomly, The drawback is that it asks you for your permission every time you want to post something. Rather than sharing your photo from your gallery to post something (you can't do it if you want to change your profile picture etc.), after changing the permission, it will open a separate gallery after you gave permission to only view the photos you select. If you do this long enough though, it will be like a new folder that is created when you want to post something to insta (before you give access to photos you select) so you will need to give it full permission again and switch back to "Allow selected photos and videos" this will reset any photos that will show up before you give permission to insta (if you want to keep it clean). I know this problem is annoying and I want Instagram to add a feature where everyone with this same problem can sort the photos by capture date. I hope this post will help someone!
