Why does my android phone gray out mobile networks?

[Android Central Question]

I am trying to avtivste my android phone with a qlink sim card that I just got and I have had this phone for a long time, over 1 year and I use to have total wireless service but I have since lost the sim card for that service ? What do I do now I cant activate my qlink service with the mobile networks being greyed out.
