Why does my flashdrive keep disconnecting?

I just bought a Samsung type-c USB flash drive. Used it once, and it worked fine. Trying to backup photos again and it keeps disconnecting. Any idea why?

Welcome to Android Central! How securely is it plugged in? Does it feel loose at all?

Make sure the phone's USB port is clear of debris. Use a can of compressed air to blow it out.

Welcome to the forums. How long did you test it the first time? Perhaps the device is going to sleep while it's plugged in? Do you have a notification about USB transfer files?

What are you trying to back up? Do you have a PC that you can plug the device into?
