I'm not sure why this question comes up before every update gets pushed out. *IF* you've already decided to root, why do you want to install Verizon's crappy update?!? (or, to put it another way, if you want to run Verizon's crappy update, why did you root?).

There are a lot of good, stable ROMs out there that have been running GB for months, and even if you want to run stock, there will most likely be a rooted version of the stock update out within days (if not hours) of the release. Food for thought.

Do not do the verizon update, wait for your favorite rom to update. In most cases the ROMs available now are everything the update will be.

See, i like the stock rom, just used titanium to remove the junk. Can i still update with it rooted?

No, you really don't want to do that. My point was that when Verizon does release the update, there will most likely within hours be a flashable ROOTED update that you can apply. Applying an official update over a rooted phone can actually cause a lot of problems.

Proceed however you wish, but it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to go through the whole un-rooting process, at least not to me.

Not sure if the OP is still hanging around, but for example, a new GB leak surfaced last night that is rumored to be THE official GB release for the Thunderbolt. (Apparently voicemail notifications still don't work, so who knows though...)

Here it is, already rooted and ready to be flashed in Clockwork Recovery...

Granted, this *may* not end up being the official GB release, but the point is, it took less than 24hrs for this release to get a root treatment -- this is why there is NO need to UNroot to get Verizon official updates. Frankly, if you are rooted, I may recommended trying out certain ROMs that have even more goodness baked in, but even if that's not your cup of tea, you can also install a rooted stock version of the OS if you wish.
