Programs open themselves in the background.

Sorry if this is an Android noob question but is it normal for android or the incredible to keep opening programs in the background that you haven't used?

I opened Taskiller and alot of programs that I never use are open. Things like voice dialer, footprints, youtube, maps, quickoffice, etc.

Is this a byproduct of android looking for updates or something? Because Id rather not have these programs running and taking up memory and processor cycles if I never open them (or in footprints case wish I could remove them).

Good information on what Taskiller shows is running versus what is actually running. Also good info on whether or not to close apps running in the background.

Mine did this with voice recorder the first few days I had the phone. It's seemed to fix itself out because I forgot all about it doing that. So try just waiting it out a few days.
