Newbie question: Kies vs. USB connection, what's the advantage?

From what I understand, Kies is a software that allows transfers between the phone and a PC. Wouldn't a USB cable be a simpler approach?
I've done neither, that's why I asked.

Yes, I agree. I've had my Samsung Exhibit for six months and have no use for Kies. Engineers frequently produce products because they can, not because there is a need.

First, you guys are talking about Kies Air rather than Kies. They're two different apps, and Kies doesn't work on Verizon GN2's (even though the manual suggests it should).

Second, some people just prefer not having to futz around with cables. Kies Air works just fine for me, and I like the interface. But each to his own.
