[Guide] Checking the ACTUAL storage space on an Android device

Install Terminal Emulator for Android (or Termux) and enter the command

df

and tap the enter key. (Landscape mode will make the result easier to read.) The last line should end in sdcard, emulated/0 or sd0. That's how much space you have to install apps and store things like music, pictures, etc. The rest of those partitions are being used by Android. You'll see the total space, the space currently being used and the space remaining.

A phone with 32GB of storage won't have 32GB available for you.
