Why am I showing a Google Duo update when I don't have it in my Apps list?

The behavior of the update is not correct. If I have any app and I cannot view the app in the google operating system that is a problem with google Android.

So give feedback to Samsung and/or Google about it. This seems to be a real sticking point for you, so that's really the best advice we can give. We don't have any control over how Google or Samsung code their systems.

What do you see when you search for it in the Google Play store?

I updated to Android 10 and one of the updates I received is Google Duo June-9-2020 version 91.0.315322534.DR91_RC03.s and I do not have Google DUO installed on my phone. It does not show in my Apps.

Why am I receiving this update ?

Maybe I’m stating this incorrectly. Are you complaining that OEM for your device essentially pushed out new app to your phone as essentially a system app?

How’s that any different than if the app was installed on your hardware prior to purchase? Either front door or side door, the maintenance guy is replacing something decided before you moved in.

The update from google for Google-duo which I could not find in my app disappeared from the updates without me applying the update. So assuming duo existed on my phone how would it disappear from my update list? (see screen capture)

The google store does not have anything to do with original equipment manufacture Samsung.

You can't really expect giant companies like Google or Samsung to respond to your concerns individually. All you can do is voice them, and if you can get enough people to join you, then they'd be more likely to address it.

I have another app update called "your phone companion - link to windows" This is to update to version 1.20052.146.0. I cannot identify this app in my installed apps and I did not install the app.

I know it is pre installed. The problem is this app does not show in my App list therefore I cannot remove the application.

Your phone companion - link to windows, how to remove

Since I upgraded to Android 10, from 9, I received an update to version1.20052.146.0 for a app I never installed called "your phone companion" I do not see it in the app list. How can this be removed or identified in the app list? It appears to be preinstalled when Android 10 was installed.

Re: Your phone companion - link to windows, how to remove

If you own a Samsung phone, this was included as part of the new OS updates and partnership between Samsung and Microsoft. It's not an app you can uninstall (not without rooting the phone) as it is a part of the OS itself. If you don't use it, it is just dormant and is not actively looking to connect to a computer. Other brands of Android would need to download the app from the Play Store to access Window's phone service on Windows 10 computers.

spookdroid. Are you telling me there are apps that are not identified in the app list but require updates from google?

I do not think that is possible based on Androids operation. But if not what would the app be called for "your phone companion"

Here is another App I found "twitter" when I looked at the update presented to my phone today July-27-2020 I see version 8.53.4-release.00. I checked my phones current version before updating it and it already has 8.53.4-release.00.
