Stock Alarm/Clock won't ring...?

Greetings all!
The phone I have:
? LG Revolution 4G [VS910]
? Android version: 2.3.6
? Carrier: Verizon

The problem:
Two weeks ago I began using a function within the ?Alarm/Clock? app (this is a stock app) called ?Timer? as a reminder. It worked perfectly each day for about one week, but then I noticed it was no longer sounding the alarm when the timer was up.
After fooling with it some, I found that I could get the timer to sound the alarm, but ONLY if the Display Screen was still on (if the display screen had gone off (into the ?sleep? mode), the alarm would NOT sound).

I did notice that if I was looking at the sleeping phone?s display when the timer ran out, it would light up for a split second, the go back to sleep.

What it ain?t:
? Alarm volume off (it?s on high)
? Alarm won?t sound regardless of whether vibrate is on (or off).
? No ?kill app? program installed on the phone.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated; TIA for your help!

Have you tried clearing the cache of the Alarm app? Or even the standard clock?

Yes, did clean out the cache, then removed and replaced the battery (but only for the Alarm/Clock app; haven't fooled with the standard clock).
