Number not saved in the contact app or in google account?

I am using android 5.0, recently I encountered a problem with contacts. I saved a contact, and when I looked for it in the contacts app it wasn't there. I tried sync it with my google account but nothing happened so far. That contact was important by the way. Please help.

Have you checked that you're displaying all contacts in your app? If it was saved to a different account, the SIM card, or the phone's internal memory it may be that it's not being displayed because of a 'filter' on the content to view.
