I'm using the stock navigation app on the moto photon. One issue it has is that if you don't have cell-phone data coverage, it can't find an address to navigate to it. I've heard there are (huge, data-intensive) apps that load up on maps so you can navigate with just the GPS signal, at least, I heard this from a guy with an iphone, but I assume the same is true on Android.

Any recommendations? (Or names?)

The stock maps (Google maps) have an offline feature. Open maps and go to Menu -> More -> Labs and there's a "Pre-cache map area" lab.

Of course, you do have to plan ahead and know you're not going to have data coverage in an area.

Alternatively I think there are some offline map apps available (again, will eat up a lot of storage space depending on how many maps you need to load).
