How optimized is the Internet Browser on Android?

I'm preparing to get a Droid Turbo this week, my first Android phone. I've been a Windows Phone guy for three years (more like 7 if you count Zune as the precursor to WP), but with the 8.1 update from earlier this year, I've been having nothing but problems, one being the Internet Browser.

It's good. Really good. So good that it sucks battery life from a straw. Ten minutes takes about 5% power from my Lumia 928's 2000 mAh battery.

As someone who browses the internet a lot and would like to do so on his phone, can someone let me know what the internet browser is like on Android, either proprietary or third-party? Does it drain battery like a vampire?

Thanks.

The stock Android browser and Chrome Browser are the two most common browsers, and I've never experience excessive battery drain when using them. There are lots of other 3rd party browsers out there as well, many of them very good. There's a very lean, stripped-down browser called Now Browser that is probably even lighter on resource usage.
