    Dear all.

Does Android Auto need mirrorlink to function?
I have LG Spirit 4G LTE H440N (android v.5.0.1) that does not have built in mirrorlink functionality and Skoda that has Android Auto. I installed AA app to my phone and when I try to connect my phone and Skoda using AA system says: "connection failed your device isn't compatible with Mirrorlink".
Do I need a phone wiht mirrorlink to use AA?

Just found out that USB need to be set as "Chaging mode". After that worked as a charm

    Hi all,

I had a question about Android Auto

When you play a song with Android Auto (with Google Music or Spotify), how is the music played, via BT or via the cable ?

I know that phone calls are via BT... but what about music ?

I want to have the best quality, and as I seen, Apple Carplay plays music via cable... I hope it's the same with Android Auto

    Thanks

I'm currently considering replacing the factory head unit in my 2012+ KIA Cee'd with a Pioneer AVH-X8700BT.
Currently I use the app EZCam when driving to provide alerts when approaching speed and traffic cameras (in the UK).
I can't seem to locate an alternative that is listed as compatible with Android Auto. Am I correct in thinking that I would have to do without this functionality?

Yes. Currently AA's offerings are quite limited, although Waze says they're working on it and it will be soon. With that said, hard to know just what features will be supported.

How is it that the number of touches with things like playlists, etc. is limited, yet you can access the search field where it brings up a keyboard? That seems completely contradictory to me...

you can also play music over BT (atleast Google Play you can on Pioneer NEX . . can't confirm others). Just connect phone like you are making call, then select BT Audio (again Pioneer NEX headset)

    Hello all,

I just had a 4100 nex installed in my 2006 toyota sequoia. It's all set up for Android auto but when I plug in the phone it says I must engage the parking brake. I've done that multiple times and still nothing. Can you guys suggest what might be the problem? Thanks in advance

Well had my 4100NEX for a week and although I love AA - some things are driving me nuts! I can make the AA part fail easily by doing any of the following:

    * I often have spotify playing in the house (Chromecast FTW) and then I'll get in the car. I kinda expect once I plug in and AA runs that Spotify will start playing locally but no (I know this is more a spotify error, but having to remember to stop it at home, close the spotify chromecast app and then make sure it's not running on my phone before I plug it in)
    * If I leave it plugged in and leave the car (petrol etc... ) and come back, the audio no longer works from Spotify. I can control it via AA, but audio comes out the phone. It seems to reconnect the bluetooth in phone only, not with A2DP/Media .
    * Unplug / plug in - Android auto cannot start. Gah. Unplug. Plug in. AA starts. No audio. Gah. Give up. Go back to bluetooth on the Pioneer side!

I'd love it to be seamless, but alas not so much. Currently on v1.05.

Would love a foolproof, wait for this, plug in, then it'll always work. But I haven't found a combo 100% guaranteed to work yet.

On an Xperia Z5 Compact with AVH-4100NEX.

I bought a new Skoda Fabia. I didn't have a smartphone so I've bought a Cubot H1 so I can run Android Auto. When I try to launch the App I get a grey screen with a pic of a phone and some cacti - and the text, "Incompatible phone. This phone can't run Android Auto".

So I'm annoyed and disappointed. But what is the App's requirements that my phone doesn't have? It's a fairly powerful phone: MTK6735P 1 GHz quad core 64-bit processor, 2GB ram, running Android 5.1 It has GPS and all the other stuff I would think necessary to run the app.

Does anyone know what the phone's missing that stops it running the App? Is the phone likely to be supported in the future? Maybe I'm just doing something wrong?

AA should run on any phone with Android 5.1 and above if I am not mistaken.

That's not very helpful; I would try uninstalling, reinstalling, turning off and on etc but if it still doesn't work return it and get a Moto G.

    Hello,

I have a Pioneer AVH-8700BT, and Android Auto has been pretty good so far. I like the ability to say "Listen to XXX" and it'll find it on Spotify for me

One thing I'm struggling with, and I have searched the net a lot, is turning the navigation volume down. I've turned down alerts, and android auto, but the navigation prompts are still full volume.

Is there any way to control this independently?

    Thank you

There are three voice level settings in Maps on your phone. They affect the voice guidance levels in AA. Of course if you're already on the low one, not much more you can do.

I wasn't aware of a setting on my phone, and that it would affect AA. Thank you, I have set it to softer, I'll see if that improves things.

    Cheers

Also change the volume when she's talking! Different from changing the volume when music is playing (I'd never have worked it out for myself!)

I picked up my brand new 2016 Golf which has MirrorLink and Android Auto. So far it's cool, I really like that the voice activation is integrated into the multimedia system (I can use the voice activation on my steering wheel to bring up Google Now), Google Maps works well and music play (google play) works as expected. To be honest, I am not blown away...this is my very first car to have both Bluetooth connectivity and Android Auto, the bluetooth functionality for voice/media works awesome already without the need of physical connection. I really hope AA expands this year, we see more cars getting it so i am hoping they pump out a lot more functionality.

I have a Galaxy S8 and trying to connect to a Kenwood DDX9703S with Android Auto. After touching the Android Auto button on my receiver it was able to show the application but the buttons at the bottom (navigation, phone, home etc.) were not operational. Most of the time when I connect the USB cable and touch the Android Auto icon the screen just goes black. The bluetooth playing music and receiving phone calls works perfectly.

I corrected the problem by disconnecting the cable that goes to the truck's USB hub and using the USB cable from the radio, directly. I will add power to the hub from and alternate source sometime in the future. Apparently, the factory wiring isn't sufficient for Android Auto.
