I just got a MXiii 4k Android TV box. It has both HDMI and AV output and I want to use the AV output. The box came with a "AV" cord - 3.5mm phone plug on one end to go to the MXiii and regular RCA plugs(white/red/yellow) on the other end to go to the TV. When I connect the box to a tv using the AV cord, I get no signal. I checked the cord for continuity and shorts but it tests okay. So do I need to do something on the box, within Android, to get the AV port to turn on or is the box defective? Has anyone else used the AV port on this box or other Android TV boxes? I tried asking the seller but they don't seem to understand what I want to do - they just say connect HDMI and it will work. ( Once I know it works I want to connect the AV port to a DVD recorder and record some of what I watch to give to friends.) I've tried asking various forums, the seller and searched the web but I'm not finding anything so any help would really be appreciated. Thanks.

    ME TOO!!!

I am pretty upset. I bought a Roku only to return it because it didn't have AV output at all (only HDMI). I was told that this unit had AV capabilities, but when I plug it in to my tv I get a blackish screen and noise over the audio. I tried two different cables and the same thing. I looked for settings (I temporarily connected it to a monitor that has HDMI in) to switch to PAL or to NTSC and I see no options for video other than HDMI.

    Help ANYONE!!!

Mixed results for me in regards to your two posts, as AV works fine on my Roku.......but not on my MXQ box. The television doesn't see the AV signal on the MXQ box. The only sign of some sort of connectivity is a loud audible humming.

My main issue that brought me to this forum is an issue with the MXQ box shutting my television off after several minutes 90% of the time that I use it - and I've only had it 1 week.

The AV output does work, but:

    1. It only activates if you power up the box with AV connected and HDMI not connected.

    2. It is set by factory default to PAL video mode, so unless you have a PAL-compatible TV (50 Hz), you will get a b&w picture rolling too rapidly to see.

To set it to NTSC video mode you need to navigate blind to the Setup - Display screen and change the first field from the 576 lines option (PAL) to the 480 lines option (NTSC), without being able to see what you're doing. From the Home screen it's: right, right, ok, right, ok, down, ok.

Incidentally the SPDIF coax digital audio output is also disabled when you have HDMI connected, as HDMI digital audio output automatically takes precedence.

I've sent you a private message of thanks, as I'm unsure of procedure, this being the first time I've used this site... but your clear post that the HDMI had to be disconnected has saved me hours of misery and frustration... I was trying to connect my M9S Pro 32G box via the AV output to the three RCA inputs, Line 2, of my Sony HXD870 recorder... I was getting audio, but no video... tested, with same result, by connecting directly to AV input of TV... I was on the point of ordering a new cable, when I came across your post... with HDMI disconnected, SUCCESS!

    many thanks, Semma2!

    Best wishes
    Mike
