How can I recover my lost data from my phone when everything goes blank.

I have an issue with my Android phone. All of a sudden, all the pictures, videos, and documents started reducing from a high amount to zero( for example: from like 3000 to zero at the same time) and when I checked, all my files where missing but my internal storage was still full, showing that some files where occupying the space there, even though those files were missing. I tried connecting to a pc to check the recycle bin and to check for hidden files, but it was to no avail. And I forgot to back up some recent important documents on my phone. I tried using some recovery Apps, like Dr. fone, and free android recovery App but even before I completed the steps on my pc, it came to a halt. Please could you be of help to me? I'm clueless on what to do to recover those documents.

Did you have back up on for google drive,photos?

Drfone really is a dreadful app. It really messes up a lot of devices. What device and version of android are we talking about?
