Alarm keeps over-riding volume and deafening me with headphones

[Android Central Question]

I listen to a lot of podcasts, and use xDrip to help manage my diabetes. For some reason (today I can't find in any settings I can see) every time xDrip alerts me about stuff it turns the master volume to max - deafening me as simply muting the alarm isn't enough, I have to turn the main volume back down again as well...

Any ideas where I might find the right settings?

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Does that happen only on headphones, or also on the main speaker? This might be something you'd need to send feedback to the devs about. I can't find that app on the Play Store, so you'd have to find the support email address information somewhere else.
