Android Central Question

So I am trying to play music through my car, via aux cord, but also record a video at the same time with the music playing. The problem is whenever I do the the video will record but it will always not have any audio with it. My phone did not used to have this problem when I first got it I do not think, is there a way to fix this?

Welcome to Android Central! It may be that the aux cord is also in contact with the microphone lead within the headphone jack, and therefore deactivating the phone's own microphone. Can you take a picture of the aux cord's plug and show it here?

I'm also thinking it's because the aux cord is plugged in. The phone senses the jack is in use, so it assumes a mic could be integrated and looks for that when recording video. You may find a setting in the camera app that allows you to select an audio input. If not, a third party app like Cinema FV-5 may be needed. It's a paid app to record in full resolution, but the free version should be good enough for testing.
