It is a phone isn't it?

AC Question

So my first foray into smart phone ownership and it's a Samsung Galaxy S3 mini with android (which I've learned to drive through tablet ownership). Now all my other phones have been 'phones' i.e. they have come with a physical keypad visible on the handset - therefore from the moment it is on I can dial a number. I can dial a number on the new phone once I click the little green phone icon - up pops a nice 'phone' keypad interface with the links to favourites and contacts at the top, but I have to make that initial click. There is plenty in internet land about customising the start screens, and I can add a number pad widget which is similar, but I rather like the phone number-pad that I get through clicking the standard phone icon. Does anyone know how to make that screen the default screen at switch on please? After-all it's a phone and not a tablet computer isn't it?

Many thanks

Or you could get an LG G-FLEX and open up a Q-slide dialer. It stays till you dismiss it!
