Fault while Rooting Nexus

I am trying to root my Nexus S 4g and my Nexus 10. I am getting the same fault "device not connected" I used wug 1.8.7 tool kit and also tried cyanogen mod installer. I cannot get the bootloader to unlock. All day not matter what I do it says device not connected or software not found. Frustrating.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
