There's another option, but it's probably not a practical one - reverse engineering the app to figure out how to reverse engineer the PIN. (We did that with Access, Word, Excel, etc., years ago. The password encoding was so simplistic it wasn't even worth laughing at.)

You can probably delete the app, though, and reinstall it (you;d have to find an .apk file of one that was backed up before a password was set). You wouldn't get your note back, but you wouldn't lose all your other data. (You don't format the phone, you factory reset it and, if that leaves Memo still PIN-locked, you reflash the whole ROM. Formatting the phone leaves you with a Samsung Pocket Warmer.)

Yes, it does. You may lose all your saved data. However, there is another trick. >>

1. Connect your phone via the usb cable to your computer,
2. Now open samsung kies on your desktop, 3. Select the backup/restore tab,
4. Select data back up,
5. Scroll to memo and select it,
6. Click backup button in top right hand corner,
7. Now go to restore data tab,
8. Select memo and click restore.
9. Select add as new memo and apply to all in the pop up window,

√√Your memos are now all unlocked with duplicate files, you wont be able to open the original locked files but you can at least access your "new" memos now. Once you copy and paste your recovered documents somewhere else, you can now clear data of "memo" app as i mentioned above to reset password.
