Why won't my Note 4 Verizon upload files to Gmail?

Note 4 Verizon doesn't upload files to Gmail

I'm unable to attach files from the phone memory onto the Gmail app. Theres an error message that pops up saying that "Unfortunately, Documents has stopped".
It's quite annoying as this is the main app I use for all my work emails.
Anyone faced a problem like this or have a solution?

Gmail has a limited number of filetypes it can upload. (It can't even send a txt file, it just appears to retry for 5 days, then errors out.) Use a different email app.

Thanks for your response Rukbat!
I'm unable to get to the selection screen for the files. As soon as I tap on "Choose a file" option, the above error pops up.
I just got the phone less than a week ago, should I get it replaced?

I would. It's probably still in the "you get a brand new phone" period. I had one Note 3 replaced with a new one and when that one went a few weeks later I got a refurb (which I'm still using and abusing about 11 months later).

I have a rule - if the phone has a problem, and is in warranty, I don't spend more than 5 minutes trying to get it working. After that it becomes the manufacturer's problem.
