Can I do a factory reset on my samsung s3 from download mode?

I am trying to do a factory reset on my phone because it is frozen on the samsung s3 screen. I have tried to reboot in recovery mode but all I get is a vibration then nothing. I am able to reboot in download mode but I don't know if this does me any good. I'm not very tech savvy so any help would be appreciated.

Only way i know in download mode is to flash the stock tar with odin
