Why am isn't my Droid Maxx charging?

Can't get Droid Maxx to charge

I usually connect my phone to its charger at night, last night I didn't and it drained the battery down to nothing. I've had my phone attached to it's charger this morning for about an hour and it's still just showing 0% - is my phone kaput? Anything I can try?

Leave it for a while yet. Give it 24h, say.

I once had an unplugged, fully-charged phone drain from 100% to 3% overnight (I'm still not entirely sure why) and the phone had powered off to protect the battery rather than allowing a full drain. I wonder why yours didn't?
