Since updating my Galaxy Tab 3 to KitKat, why is my wifi connection dropping?

Problem with Galaxy Tab 3 and Kit Kat

My Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 updated itself to 4.4.2 Kitkat earlier today. Now it drops the wifi connection after turning it on. It initially makes the wifi connection and displays the wifi symbol but then drops it after 20 or 30 secs. Wifi can be turned on manually and then doesn't drop out.

The router is working OK and the tablet has now done this repeatedly on 3 different wifi networks. Is this a known problem with 4.4.2? How can it be resolved?

Welcome to Android Central! When you lose the connection, does the wi-fi switch actually turn off? Or is wi-fi still on, but it just lost connection with the network?

Try wiping the cache partition, which can be helpful after system updates: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-16226.
