How do I get the ability to mute back on my phone?

Lost mute facility

Following software upgrade I have lost the mute facility on the phone - can you please help. On the sound icon you can touch it once for sound, again for vibrate and third time for mute - I have lost this facility it only now has sound and vibrate. Is anyone able to assist me with this. Thank you

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone, and which version of Android?

On my Nexus 5 with Lollipop, tapping either Volume button brings up the volume slider and the priority notification buttons. If you tap "None," it should be the same as mute--although you also won't get any of the notification icons. Do you still need them?
