Galaxy S5 not displaying notifications on lock screen after lollipop upgrade

All,

I upgraded to 5.0 at the weekend. No idea why. Stupid!! however since then i am unable to get any email, voicemail, Whatsapp etc.. notification icons showing on the lock screen. I have to unlock the screen for me to see if i have any kind of notification.

Any ideas on how to resolve this. All notification settings for lock screen are set to on

Regards
Richard

Re: Galaxy S5 not displaying notifications on lock screen after lollipop upgrade

Unfortunately I don't have 5.0 yet but let's run through some of the basics just to see... You say that all settings for lock screen are on? You mean the settings in your apps, and the settings in your device Security options? Notifications settings under security allow you to choose which notifications appear on the lock screen, and then within each app there may be a setting for appearing on the lock screen. In my Handcent app for example I can choose to have notifications popup and wake the screen to display. Your apps may have similar options, and with an OS update they could have been reset or changed, as many apps also update when the OS updates. So you cannot depend on, "it was set this way before I upgraded", or "it worked before I upgraded". You may also be able to add widgets to your lock screen.

Re: Galaxy S5 not displaying notifications on lock screen after lollipop upgrade

I had same issue post upgrade...

Settings -> Sound and Notifications -> scroll to bottom -> "notification" setting -> While Locked
I picked "show all content" and it worked - now I'll experiment with "hide sensitive content" which should be the old default.

Cheers

I have the same problem and I rely on seeing the notifications when waiting for important business calls. I'm now unlocking my phone every 5 mins. The option suggested above work's in a way but only shows 3 notifications at any time, and it's not icons at the top but a widget on the main screen which seems to drain battery lots.

:-\ With Sonya on this one ... Anyone know how I can get the widgets back along the top showing I have email, FB, WhatsApp, text messages etc to be seen when phone turned on but still in locked screen?

Also, EVERY time I do an upgrade, there's a nightmare to follow so in addition to above, How do I turn ALL updates/upgraes OFF from the likes of Android??

Many thanks

First widgets do drain battery life. That's just a fact of life, unfortunately. Eliminating widgets is usually the first advice given to new users for extending battery life. Depending on what type of widget you are using or want to use, you may be able to find one at the PS that is known for using less power or allowing variable updating to cut back on battery use. Maybe?

neilnutburn it sounds like you are asking about icons that appear in your notification bar, and not widgets. You may have to go into each of those apps and your security settings, and possibly your display options, and ensure that your delivery and notification options are all set to allow notifications while locked, and display notifications in your notification bar. There may be a general setting on the device however there are often settings within each app that need to be setup as well. As for turning off Android updates, there is only one sure way to stop it that I am aware of and that is to root. Depending on your carrier you can defer for awhile, but if you're on Verizon there is no stopping the updates. You can defer and defer and one day you will wake up to the update. That's just how they roll. Even at that regardless of the carrier you will be reminded of the update every time you restart the device and probably randomly at random times until you relent, or root.

I'm having the same problem with notification not showing in lock screen. I can choose "Show all content" or "Hide sensitive content" but it takes up so much room on the lock screen. I just want to see the icons at the top without having to unlock my phone. So annoying!

I've tried every setting, with no luck getting it back to how it was in KitKat.

I'm on a Galaxy s5. Help! Thanks.
