how do I get the Chrome sync Password Required icon to go away?

I cant get the "Chrome sync Password Required" icon to go away. I've tried entering my gmail password and it won't accept it. The password works for sure as I use it to sign into gmail. Is the Chrome sync Password the same as the Gmail password and if so, how do I get the darn notification to go away?

I am having the same issue. It comes as a notification. Which says Chrome Sync Password required and asks for your Google password. It only gives you two options cancel or ok. I am entering the correct password but when I do it tells me its invalid. It states incorrect passphrase.
