Why wont my camera work?

When I open my original camera app I get a message that says: Camera stopped. Camera stopped unexpectedly needs to restart. I did a factory reset along with wiping sdcard clean. Still didnt work. Even tried to download different camera apps. Nothing. Took battery and sd card out for an hour. Nothing. Please help.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Try booting into Safe Mode, which temporarily disables all 3rd party apps. On most Android devices, while powered on, press and hold Power until the Power Off menu appears. Press and hold the Power Off selection until the Safe Mode prompt appears. Tap OK.

If the problem disappears in Safe Mode, then something you installed is causing the problem. You may have to uninstall apps one by one until the problem disappears. If the problem persists in Safe Mode, then it's more likely to be a hardware or firmware problem.

Have you left it on the charger for a long period of time. If so depending on the phone it heats up the back to a very hot temperature and messes up the camera. It happened to my sister's Samsung Galaxy Prevail 2.
