my galaxy tab 3 will not pair with a bluetooth keyboard i have just bought

The problem is the tablet recognises the keyboard, and asks me to type in a code into the keyboard, but everytime i do this it says
Unable to pair with Bluetooth keyboard. Incorrect pin or password.
