Why is my Mail app still working, even tough I changed my Hotmail password via web?

I changed my Hotmail password in the web. I didn't change it in my phone app, but I still get to see, send, and receive new Mails. Even if I write just some random Password in the app, the Mail app is still working. How is that possible? I'm using a Samsung S4, Android Version 4.4.2, with the native Mail app.
